Welcome to my Classroom

Welcome to my classroom:) I'm Sue-Lynn, an Educational Therapist with the Dyslexia Association Singapore (DAS). As an EdT, I work with children with dyslexia, aged from 6 to 15 and provide literacy remediation for them.

These are some of the photos of my classroom in January this year and I'm particularly excited to see the board fill up with my student's work. They really do have some fantastic talents in areas of art, music and creativity - so showcasing their work is really exciting for them as well as myself.

We have been working on our reading charts as well, with each child being allocated one chart. It's such a joy to see them bring their books to class and share about what they have read. I believe that cultivating a love for reading starts at an early age.

As Dr Seuss puts it: "The more you READ, the more we things you will KNOW. The more you KNOW, the more places you will GO".

Indeed, through our shared reading time at the reading corner, we have explored many exciting places and gone on great adventures; pretending we are pirates on a ship , campers under a tent and so much more!

A great way to read is known as Dialogic Reading, using the C.R.O.W.D. types of prompts.
I've learnt this from this website  http://www.readingrockets.org/article/400
  • Completion prompts
  • Recall prompts
  • Open-ended prompts
  • Wh- prompt
  • Distancing prompt
Here's to a year of discovery, a year of exciting learning and a year of growing together with my students on their learning journey:)
